The Mountain Song will highlight the full strengths of our crew and cast's technical and performance capabilities! The set will feature an entire mountain range with three rivers that diverge for which our adventure takes place. Props in the show feature cardboard puppets for crows, a goose, a coyote, and a 12-foot-tall giant! The 九州体育 Mustang String Band, a Music Department band group of guitars, drums, banjos and more, will perform on stage live during the shows as well!
The Mountain Song hails from the iconic creators, writers, and world known theatre company Pigpen Theatre Company, who is currently hosting their first Broadway production Water for Elephants. A small folk tale created by Pigpen Theatre Company during their college days, this production features the amazing story of a carpenter and his mute daughter. The daughter wants to be able to communicate and thus leave home to learn sign language in the city, but the father works to build the daughter a voice box so that she can speak and come back home! He finds out that his daughter is getting married, but does not know where, but knows it is at the end of one of the three rivers. As one does, he sets out on a wonderful journey down each river to find his daughter's wedding and bring her his working voice box, but along the way he is met with roadblock after roadblock. Crow roadblocks, giant roadblocks, and dangerous coyote roadblocks.

鈥淲e are going to be doing so much work to make this show amazing, be sure to come out and see it,鈥 said Smith. 鈥淭he Mountain Song will feature beautiful puppet craftsmanship, wonderful stage/set design, and incredible story telling brought to life using sound, music, lighting, choreography, beautiful scenery, and most importantly of all, imagination!
