The Division of Social Sciences, Speech, and Foreign Languages offers a wide variety of courses in a number of subject areas. Staffed by eight full-time instructors, two special contract faculty, and over twenty adjunct instructors, the division's semester schedule includes courses in three of the five areas of the curriculum.
In Area II of the core curriculum, the division offers two years of a foreign language (Spanish), three religion classes (Survey of Old Testament, Survey of New Testament, and World Religions), one philosophy class (Ethics and Society), and one speech class (Fundamentals of Public Speaking). Area IV classes offered by the division include Western Civilization I and II, U. S. History I and II, American National Government, World Geography, General Psychology, Human Growth and Development, Introductory Sociology, and Social Problems. Among the Area V or pre-professional or major courses offered by the division are thirteen Criminal Justice courses, State and Local Government, an Interdisciplinary Studies class, and a Humanities Forum.
The division's eight full-time instructors serve as advisors to students in a variety of majors. Additionally, several of the division's full-time instructors serve as advisors to students who have not yet declared a specific major.
