Course forgiveness occurs when a student repeats a course and the last grade awarded (excluding grades of W) replaces the previous grade in the computation of the cumulative GPA.
A student must request that the Office of the Registrar implement the course forgiveness policy after a course has been repeated. A forgiven course may only be replaced one time.
The official transcript will list the course and grade each time it is attempted. Once implemented, all grades excluding forgiven courses will be used in computing the cumulative GPA. Course forgiveness may only be applied to coursework taken at Northeast.
Coursework in which course forgiveness has been applied will not be used to fulfill degree requirements.
Students should check financial aid regulations regarding course forgiveness and repetition of courses.
Implementation of course forgiveness at Northeast does not guarantee that other institutions will approve such action. This determination will be made by the respective transfer institution.
