The President's List

The President's List聽is compiled at the end of each semester. Requirements for the President's List are (1) semester grade point of 4.0 and (2) completion of a minimum semester course load of 12 semester credit hours of college-level work.

Developmental (pre-collegiate) courses carrying grades of A-F will be calculated in the semester GPA. However, developmental (pre-collegiate) courses will not count toward the minimum course load requirement.

The Dean's List

The Dean's List is compiled at the end of each semester. Requirements for the Dean's List are (1) a semester grade point of 3.5 or above but below 4.0 and (2) completion of a minimum semester course load of 12 credit hours of college-level work.

Developmental (pre-collegiate) courses carrying grades of A-F will be calculated in the semester GPA. However, developmental (pre-collegiate) courses will not count toward the minimum course load requirement.

Who's Who Among Students In American Junior Colleges

Each year students are selected by the faculty and administration for Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for success. Selections for Who's Who are made during the fall semester from sophomores enrolled full-time who have a minimum 3.50 grade point average.

James B. Allen Award

The James B. Allen Award is presented each year to an outstanding student at Northeast. The recipient is chosen by faculty and administrative staff.

President's Cup

The President's Cup is presented each year to the most outstanding student at Northeast.

Honorary Societies

Honors Awarded Upon Graduation

Superior academic achievement by graduating students shall be recognized by the following designations on transcripts:

Associate Degree Graduation:

  • Cum Laude (with Honors) 3.50 to 3.69 GPA
  • Magna Cum Laude (with High Honors) 3.70 to 3.89 GPA
  • Summa Cum Laude (with Highest Honors) 3.90 to 4.00 GPA

Certificate Completion:

  • Graduation with Distinction 3.50 to 4.00 GPA

NOTE: Calculation of the grade point average (GPA) for graduation honors shall be identical to that method used to calculate the GPA to fulfill graduation requirements for the degree, diploma, or certificate being earned. In addition, in order to be eligible for a graduation honor, the student must have completed a minimum of 32 semester credit hours at the college conferring the degree or other formal award.
